Crane Buffers
Energy‑absorbing buffers that protect cranes and structures in collisions. Available as hydraulic, spring, or polyurethane designs with tailored stroke and capacity. Engineered to standards and sized to your application.
When a crane bridge or trolley reaches the end of its rails, the buffer is what separates a controlled stop from structural damage. Crane buffers absorb the kinetic energy of a collision, protecting the steelwork, travel drives, the load and the operator. KRANHAUSS has manufactured crane equipment in Ankara since 2004 and supplies hydraulic, spring and polyurethane crane buffers to customers in more than 50 countries — every unit built to order, sized from your application data rather than picked off a shelf.
Three Damping Technologies, One Selection Logic
Our hydraulic buffer (HB) series covers four sizes — 063, 080, 100 and 125 — with strokes from 100 to 800 mm in 50 mm increments. Energy absorption per stroke ranges from 15 kJ to 435 kJ at buffering forces up to 670 kN, making hydraulic damping the choice for heavy bridge cranes and higher travel speeds. Spring buffers (SB0250 to SB7500) absorb 250 to 7,500 joules with 80–180 mm strokes and forces up to 85,000 N — a robust mechanical option whose performance is defined by spring steel quality and heat treatment. Polyurethane buffers use a cellular polymer structure that converts kinetic energy into heat; they are lightweight, compact, and tested and approved in standard test systems.
Configured to Your Crane, Not From a Shelf
Buffer sizing starts with three figures: the moving mass, the travel speed at impact, and the deceleration or end force your structure permits. From these we determine the required energy capacity and stroke and propose a model. Hydraulic buffers are available in front-mount (FM) and rear-mount (RM) configurations, specified for indoor or outdoor use and for normal or aggressive environments, with six standard colors. Spring buffers come with defined base flanges from 150x150 to 260x260 mm and matching fixation hole patterns, which simplifies integration into existing end stops. Production runs under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems, with ISO 3834-2 welding qualification and EN 1090 compliance; products are CE marked.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which buffer type is right for my crane?
It depends on the energy to be absorbed. Hydraulic HB buffers handle the highest energies — up to 435 kJ per stroke — and suit heavy cranes and faster travel speeds. Spring buffers cover up to 7,500 joules as a simple, durable mechanical solution. Polyurethane buffers are compact and lightweight for lower-energy applications. Share your mass and speed data and we will recommend a model.
Can the buffers be adapted to my existing crane or end stops?
Yes. Every unit is made to order. Hydraulic buffers offer fifteen stroke variants per size plus FM or RM mounting, and connections can be flange, threaded or customized. Spring buffers have defined flange and fixation-hole dimensions that are matched to your end-stop geometry. Sending drawings or photos of the existing arrangement with your inquiry speeds up the review.
What certifications does KRANHAUSS hold?
Manufacturing is certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems, with OHSAS 18001 for occupational health and safety, ISO 3834-2 for welding quality and EN 1090 for steel fabrication. Products are CE marked. Certificate copies can be provided together with your quotation on request, and the current list is published on our certificates page.
How do I get a price, and what about delivery?
We do not publish list prices because every buffer is sized to its application. Send the moving mass, travel speed, available installation space and quantity through the quote form; our engineers confirm the model and return a formal quotation. Delivery terms and Incoterms are agreed per order. Request your crane buffer quote today.
